The forest was small, thick, and lush. Its canopy was contested by maple, hemlock, and magnolia, who allowed adequate light to pass down for a flood of mushrooms to rule the stony grounds below. Silent tree limbs grasped every tree, and a variety of flowers, which were found in the most quiet places, added colorful, scented elements to the otherwise unchanging forest grounds. A variety of beastly noises, most of which were fleeing animals, resonated through the air, and formed a chaotic orchestra with the rustling of the leaves and branches of the tree tops in the wind.
